Shell: 2014 SPDC Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme
Shell Nigeria’s vision of providing a rare opportunity for qualified students of Niger Delta to further their education in courses relevant to oil and gas industry is at it again .
Interested candidates should apply for admission to study one of the qualifying courses at any of the participating universities. Application forms will be available through the participating universities following an offer of admission.
The universities will process all eligible applications and nominate candidates for initial interview which will be followed by attendance at a final interview for selected candidates.
Completed application forms must reach participating universities by a deadline which will be advised.
The list of supported courses is subject to amendment annually, and candidates should check with the individual universities, or enquire at [email protected]
Display intellectual ability and leadership potential
Meet the university’s language requirement (candidates are advised to apply for any relevant tests as early as possible)
Be aged between 21 – 28 years of age
Be an indigene of Bayelsa, Delta or Rivers states (documentary proof of this will be required)
Currently reside in Nigeria
Intend to return and take up permanent residence in Nigeria after completion of the proposed programme of study
Have obtained a university degree of at least an equivalent standard to a UK upper Second Class Honours Degree
Be neither a current nor former employee (having employment within the last three years) of SPDC, the Royal Dutch Shell plc or Wider Perspectives Limited, or be related to current employees of any of these companies
Not have studied previously in the UK or any other developed country
Imperial College London: Petroleum Engineering, Petroleum Geoscience, Petroleum Geophysics, Engineering Geology.
University College London: Chemical Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering.
University of Leeds: Exploration Geophysics, Electronic/Electrical Engineering.
The scholarship will cover tuition fees, one return flight ticket from Nigeria to the UK and a contribution towards living expenses only.
Compulsory field trip costs will be covered, but this will be by prior agreement and limited to essential compulsory items only.
