NITDA Scholarship

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has as its mandate to develop and regulate the Information Technology in Nigeria. Developing and regulating IT will support in transforming Nigeria into an IT driven economy for global competitiveness and the dire need of digital literacy.

The Agency has since 2010 established a scholarship scheme for Masters and Doctoral degree in relevant areas of Information Technology (IT) and ICT Law obtainable in Nigerian (Government and Private) Universities.

NITDA POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME 2017/2018

Duration

The sponsorship for the Masters programme will run for one year and the Doctorate programme for three years.
Criteria

The scholarship award is strictly based on merit and is evenly distributed between the six geo-political zones for the PhD, 36 States and FCT for MSc.
Eligibility (Nigerians)

PhD: Only University and Polytechnic Lecturers with MSc in any Information Technology related field are eligible to apply for sponsorship.
MSc: Holders of First Class or Second Class (Upper) Honours Bachelor’s degree, in Information Technology related field and Law.

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a parastatal of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources established by Decree 25 of 1973 for the purpose of developing and promoting petroleum technology and for creating the manpower needs of the oil and gas industry through research and training of Nigerians.

To ensure a steadfast implementation of this mandate, PTDF is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for Overseas and in-Country Master’s Scholarships. Applicants must not be over 40 years of age.

(SPDC)Shell is delighted to announce the sixth annual SPDC Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme for applicants from Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa States. The objective of the scheme is to provide an opportunity for qualifying students from these Niger Delta States to further their education in courses that are relevant to the oil and gas industry.

Shell (SPDC): In the five years of this programme, 50 students have so far benefitted from the opportunity to study at top rated Universities in the UK on an all expenses paid scholarship.

The African Peace building Network of the Social Science Research Council is offering residential postdoctoral fellowships for African academics and researchers who work on conflict and peacebuilding and are based in universities in Africa.

The Fellows will be expected to spend two months at a university or research center in Africa located outside the fellow’s home country and a third month at either a university or a policy or practitioner institution in the United States.

Selected fellows will produce research-based knowledge that is relevant to and has a significant impact on, peacebuilding policy and practice on the continent. The application deadline is December 14th 2014.

Area Specialisation: Fellowship is awarded to work on conflict and peacebuilding. Support will be made available for research and analysis on issues such as the following:

Specfically, the fellowship program aims to encourage young academics to expand their research beyond their PhD; deepen the engagement of early-career academics with scholarly and policy discussions on peacebuilding, both in Africa and other parts of the world; and further develop and apply academics’ capacity for independent research that is relevant to a range of disciplines and broader networks within and outside of Africa.

Number of award(s): Up to four individual fellowships are awarded.

Duration of award(s): Fellowships are awarded on a competitive, peer-reviewed basis and are intended to support three months of residency in Africa and the United States, from September 2015 through December 2015. Shell Nigeria’s vision of providing a rare opportunity for qualified students of Niger Delta to further their education in courses relevant to oil and gas industry is at it again .

Interested candidates should apply for admission to study one of the qualifying courses at any of the participating universities. Application forms will be available through the participating universities following an offer of admission.

The universities will process all eligible applications and nominate candidates for initial interview which will be followed by attendance at a final interview for selected candidates.
Completed application forms must reach participating universities by a deadline which will be advised.
The list of supported courses is subject to amendment annually, and candidates should check with the individual universities, or enquire at [email protected]

Qualifications

Display intellectual ability and leadership potential
Meet the university’s language requirement (candidates are advised to apply for any relevant tests as early as possible)
Be aged between 21 – 28 years of age
Be an indigene of Bayelsa, Delta or Rivers states (documentary proof of this will be required)
Currently reside in Nigeria
Intend to return and take up permanent residence in Nigeria after completion of the proposed programme of study
Have obtained a university degree of at least an equivalent standard to a UK upper Second Class Honours Degree
Be neither a current nor former employee (having employment within the last three years) of SPDC, the Royal Dutch Shell plc or Wider Perspectives Limited, or be related to current employees of any of these companies
Not have studied previously in the UK or any other developed country

MSC Courses

Imperial College London: Petroleum Engineering, Petroleum Geoscience, Petroleum Geophysics, Engineering Geology.
University College London: Chemical Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering.
University of Leeds: Exploration Geophysics, Electronic/Electrical Engineering.
The scholarship will cover tuition fees, one return flight ticket from Nigeria to the UK and a contribution towards living expenses only.
Compulsory field trip costs will be covered, but this will be by prior agreement and limited to essential compulsory items only.

2. A secondary school graduate.

3. 21 years old and below

4. Those who had not or have not been granted an undergraduate scholarship by a Turkish Government institution
5. The scholarship is not meant for Students who are currently studying at a University or a vocational college in Türkiye .
6. Those who have at least 60 % points from one of the academic criteria specified in the following table..
